Meet the staff of Butterflies Day Nursery and Pre-school

We are very proud of our staff; they are exceptional in the level of care and commitment they show towards the children. As well as being very well qualified, they have a wealth of experience.

Apart from those still training, all of the staff have a L3 childcare qualification, one member of staff has a degree in childcare and our Manager has a L5 management qualification. Most of the staff have done Paediatric First Aid.
All of our staff have a DBS check.

Our staffing ratios are: 1:3 in the Under 2’s Room, 1:4 for 2 year olds and 1:8 for 3-5 year olds. Each child has a designated ‘key person’ that takes a particular interest in their well-being, progress and development.

Parents as Partners

Written daily feedback is given to parents, recorded in individual diaries. This also offers the opportunity for parents to send messages into nursery.

We host two parents evenings a year, to provide an extended opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with your child’s key person. Your child’s key person will carry out regular observations of your child and record their progress in a file that is a record of your child’s learning journey at Butterflies. These observations are also used to help plan activities for your child that will help them to progress.

Termly newsletters keep you informed of upcoming events at the nursery. We also have a notice board for the parents to remind everyone of what is going on!

Parents are encouraged to discuss their child’s progress regularly with staff.
Key Worker

Butterflies Day Nursery operates a key worker system in which each child/family is allocated a fully qualified member of staff. This member of the team is responsible for the main care of your child and will ensure that their individual needs are catered for and that every care is given to your child’s welfare and happiness. Having a constant familiar face and building a good relationship with their key worker will help promote stability and continuity which will help your child settle.

The key worker will be responsible for most of their learning and development observations and will write most of your child's learning journey portfolio.
